Winter Has Come

In all black with a hint of bloody red makes me seem like a walking Bubonic Plague; or at least that’s how I’ve been feeling these past few days. Sickness has struck me and I think it’s trying to tell me that I should be better prepared in keeping myself warm now that winter has come. A trip to Winners this weekend and voilà, a wool scarf and leather gloves that cost me less than $30. If there’s anything I like about winter, it’s that I get to wear leather, wool and suede.

(Mad-Eye) Moody is Set Free

The cloudy day is too bright for me, as if I was trapped away by an impostor for a long time and finally released… like (Mad-Eye) Moody.

I am still obsessed with wearing a ‘unitard’ that I wouldn’t be surprised if I actually bought one in the future. I tried my best to dress ‘normal’ today by initially putting on a pea coat and scarf, but I found that I don’t feel comfortable dressing in bright colours anymore. The bright pink details should be sufficient, right? Because whoever saw an aspiring, part-time poet in colour? I think my style is currently in sync with my poems: dark and sarcastic.

On a more technical note, my advocacy for the unitard effect, in all its simplicity & chicness, is a great way to showcase interesting pieces. A colour blocked coat like mine, or one that has pattern, are good examples.

Toughing Up ‘Tacky’

There are certain things that I have other people will hate… like this t-shirt. I was convinced it wasn’t my style but oddly, I gravitated towards it. Perhaps its because I can appreciate the uniqueness of its pop art print: colourful zebras, ribbons and reindeers. In my defence, Christmas is around the corner.

However, I am not one to flaunt such tackiness. Instead, I juxtaposed it with darker and tougher pieces. A biker jacket, black thigh highs, corduroy shorts and oxfords did the trick.DSC03967 DSC03988 DSC039761) Graphic T-shirt: Silla (Local Store) | 2) Biker Jacket: Ralph Lauren (similar here) | 3) Corduroy Shorts: American Apparel | 4) Thigh Highs: Gifted (similar here) | 5) White & Purple Oxfords: Arnold Churgin (similar here)

Non-Vintage Vintage

Good vintage pieces are not easy to come across, but who says you can’t make modern-day clothing appear as if they were from 10 years ago?

An oversized souvenir tee paired with loosely fit straight jeans is a vintage classic ensemble that I decided to recreate. To keep it consistent, I slid into my exhausted, brown boots.

Making Geeky Pretty

Admit it, we all have that geeky t-shirt in the closet itching to be worn. But that doesn’t mean you should stick to high waisted mom jeans and overworn sneakers to pair it with. For a share on my dose of geek, I wore this Minecraft Periodic Table tee with confidence. As a former gamer and Chemistry undergraduate (now in for a change in degree), this was perfect for me!

The predominantly masculine vibe of the shirt (without surprise since I got this from the boy’s clothing department) needed a little juxtaposition from the women’s department. I paired it with a soft, flirty skirt and oxfords that have ribbon laces. To finish it all off, an oxblood pair of socks with the all black outfit is my idea of welcoming fall.SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESIsn’t this tee awesome!? Look, they have Nether! Monochromatic and Bloody

Five hours of insufficient sleep later, with lingering feelings from Phantom of the Opera the night prior, one can only dress in monochrome and bloody tints.

Everyone wakes up one morning knowing that it will be a t-shirt and jeans kind of day. Well, today was my day. It’s a surprise that I even managed to get out of bed.

With scenes from Phantom of the Opera still fresh in my mind, I may well continue sorrowing at its dramatic plot with this black V-neck paired with my striped skinnies. Not wanting to look any duller with my already sunken eyes, a much needed call for colour brought bloody tints of red to my lips and feet. Since the stripes on my jeans are thin and narrow, it does not clash with my shoes but instead, attracts interest to the play in patterns.

To indicate caution for today’s highly irritable nature, it was appropriate that I wear my bullet necklace.
