Ghosts Live Here

Apparently there lives a half genie & half witch among us. If you’ve seen one as such, please inform me. If I’m not mistaken, they’re also part ghost.

No, but I’m honestly very entertained at how a mixture of movement + flash in the dark results in a ghost-like effect. This is what happens when I’m left alone at home, with time in my hands, and an exhausted mind to even realize that I’ve almost jeopardized my perfectly, good ankles.

Toughing Up ‘Tacky’

There are certain things that I have other people will hate… like this t-shirt. I was convinced it wasn’t my style but oddly, I gravitated towards it. Perhaps its because I can appreciate the uniqueness of its pop art print: colourful zebras, ribbons and reindeers. In my defence, Christmas is around the corner.

However, I am not one to flaunt such tackiness. Instead, I juxtaposed it with darker and tougher pieces. A biker jacket, black thigh highs, corduroy shorts and oxfords did the trick.DSC03967 DSC03988 DSC039761) Graphic T-shirt: Silla (Local Store) | 2) Biker Jacket: Ralph Lauren (similar here) | 3) Corduroy Shorts: American Apparel | 4) Thigh Highs: Gifted (similar here) | 5) White & Purple Oxfords: Arnold Churgin (similar here)

British Invasion: 221B

Recently, I have been subconsciously inspired by British style: simple, yet has an indescribable charm. Perhaps I am lacking the eye candy of a beautiful British man who lives in 221B who’s got me poppin’ my collar. To those who are currently suffering from such deprivation, I am with you. Perhaps a third time of watching all the seasons isn’t such a bad idea… if only my GPA didn’t need a little more attention.
DSC03546I have absolutely no idea what my bag says for it’s in Indonesian, but my best guess would be that it’s rice related because it’s recycled from the material used in rice bags.

I needed a little day off from everything and the beautiful, chilly weather has got me in the mood for a little exploration around one of my favourite neighbourhoods: Kensington. It is full of art, diversity and innovation: an energy I find refreshing and inspiring. A little retail therapy at a local store, Silla, and a visit to possibly my favourite café, Vendome, was my way of getting away from it all. Escapism would be incomplete without immersing myself in self-reflection and poetry. There is nothing more calming than finding time to ‘ajoute life’ into paper. DSC03536 DSC03535 1 DSC035482A plus tard et avec l’amour!

Ribbon & Stripes

Shoes like a nurse’s white pairs with bloody maroon socks and stripes that remind me of clown outfits is my way of getting into the Halloween spirit. Such may be a scary description of my ensemble, but there’s not a trace of horrifying to the eye. The stripes may make you dizzy though.

Lunch Date: ‘Roman Vibe’

Today’s attire was not the easiest to walk in and got my family and friends wondering where I was off to. My mom thought I was to attend a party, a friend felt as if I came from Italy and another explained it with the words ‘Roman Vibe’, which the latter I’m most fond of. It’s really difficult for me to leave the house without looking overdressed because it’s just the way I am. I love to dress up, make my old clothes appear new by mix & matching and I hope it inspires other people to enjoy fashion as much as I do. To end all curiosities, my day consisted of a lunch date and attending Japanese class.

We made a first visit to Oak Tree Tavern in Kensington and I ordered the classic fish & chips and beer combo. The batter of the fish was well executed, though the fries could have used less salt. As for the beer, which was Newcastle Brown Ale, it was one of the best I’ve had for a dark choice.SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESThere is something about matching a long sleeve top with a maxi skirt that I’m very fond of. Perhaps it is most comparable to the fashion during the Victorian Era: feminine and elegant. Since the top & bottom half pieces are both voluminous, the addition of the belt cinches in the waist to balance out the proportions.

Korea(town?)

After a terrible Geography midterm and stressful few weeks, a dose of fun and relaxation with family & friends was much needed. What better way to do so than jokes over Korean dinner and finally, a taste of soju!

Since 2006, I’ve been interested in all things Korean: food, culture, and fashion. A month ago, I went to Market Collective and picked up this vintage, Korean branded coat from Joyce’s Closet. I fell in love with the eccentric pop of pink and the oversized fit. To keep the coat as main point of interest, I paired it with a very simple black dress.

Calgarian Raincouver Ready

Waking up to heavy clouds this morning made me happy! It gave me good reason to dress up in almost all waterproof. As a former Vancouverite, I am still well-equipped for a dance in the rain: clad in raincoat, a waterproof wristlet and rubber boots. Though my bestest friends are well aware that these boots are cursed because everytime I wear them, it doesn’t rain. It held up to its title today.

Since I wanted the raincoat to be the main point of interest for its cool vibrancy and built-in cinching waistbelt, I paired it with light, cigarette jeans. Though a little more pop of colour from the addition of this functional wristlet should ease this outfit from ordinary.
SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESAs I very much adore the cute bow detail on these rainboots, I decided to cuff my jeans. Now, it even looks like I have a new pair of denim!

Lady-like in Public Transit

New York is a fashion capital and I was not going to waste my chance of pretending I belonged. I achieved this lady-like look by wearing a floral dress with lace and pearl embellishments. Since the dress is already very busy, I chose simple, yet elegant accessories. To juxtapose the softness of the dress, I paired it with a leather satchel, watch and shoes.

Dainty with an Edge

I woke up this morning with the intention to go for the long overdue run. I have been awfully busy with school and work that my exercise routine has recently been on hold. So, I went for a jog and missed the bus, leaving me to have a good excuse to dress up 😛

One of my favourite things to do when styling is juxtaposing. Today, I paired dainty and edgy pieces together to create an ‘all-American’ look.

The delicate and sheer material of my button down tucked into the heavy, corduroy material of my shorts creates contrast and balance that attracts interest. To add a little more personality into my outfit, I accessorized with a vibrant head wrap and matching lip colour to tie it all together. Dainty pieces such as my watch and bracelet finished off the outfit.
